Mid-Term Elections, What Red Wave?

What happened to the red wave
All the pundits thought there'd be
Hardly was a ripple
So it seems to me
 
Looks like the tide was flowing out
No waves were rolling in
Causing many candidates
To think what might have been
 
Though Election Day results
Might fill one’s heart with hope
Take them with a grain of salt
Or be prepared to mope
 
Republicans cast their vote
On Election Day
Democrats take a month or more
To put their votes in play
 
All those written ballots 
Really tell the tale
And they take days to count
To find who made the sale
 
But one thing is for certain
You can put your board away
There is no red wave for surfing
From this Election Day

Thinking about downsizing   We’re getting to that point   Where we don’t need all this room Maybe it’s time to leave this joint   Forty-five hundred square feet Of which we live in less than half What will we do with all our stuff? We ask, with a nervous laugh    I have started looking around the house  For things that we might sell We can’t take all this stuff with us To a smaller place to dwell   Have this fourteen-foot step ladder That has never been abused  Its top three steps never stepped on  So, it has never been fully used   How about that old stand-mixer That never made a cake And that large food processor  Bought for recipes we didn’t make   Then there's that pressure washer? So much time has slipped away Joe Namath pushing hearing aids Never dreamed I’d see this day   Joe represents MD Hearing He does their ads on TV I’ve always been a Namath fan His spirit just seems so free   We both went to Alabama  Me, I’m your average Joe But “Broadway Joe”, “Joe Willy” Every football fan will know   He was the epitome of “cool” Still is at the age of eighty  His charm and personality  And presence are still weighty   Now, he looks a little frail  And it’s hard for him to hear He retains that brilliant smile Joe still makes me want to cheer
