Grocery Store

We needed things for dinner

From the grocery store

Told my wife I was going out

And would get those things and more

As I walked around the grocery store

And wandered in my mind

Needed chunky peanut butter

That I couldn’t find

Saw this very heavy lady

Two hundred pounds or so

I asked “Where’s the peanut butter?

You look like you would know”

She sternly looked me up and down

Didn’t even crack a smile

She said “You might’ve once been skinny

But, I’d say it’s been awhile”

Then she let go a belly laugh

That put me all to shame

I didn’t know what to say

I had to accept the blame

Oh, this didn’t really happen

I would not be so unkind

Just shows when you are shopping

Crazy thoughts can cross your mind
