Aging and Face ID

One thing about getting older
Has to do with Face ID
A morning mirror-check
Makes me wonder if that’s me
 
Eyes are puffed, wrinkles there
My look is so bereft
Hair goes every which-a-way
The little bit that’s left
 
It has all come on so slowly
That I can live with it
But my iPhone and my iPad
They just have a fit
 
Their Face ID just doesn’t care
That I say “I’m back”
They think I'm a stranger 
Trying to do a hack
 
I’m not getting younger
And results of age will be
I may just have to switch
To more forgiving Touch ID

Downsizing

Thinking about downsizing   We’re getting to that point   Where we don’t need all this room Maybe it’s time to leave this joint   Forty-five hundred square feet Of which we live in less than half What will we do with all our stuff? We ask, with a nervous laugh    I have started looking around the house  For things that we might sell We can’t take all this stuff with us To a smaller place to dwell   Have this fourteen-foot step ladder That has never been abused  Its top three steps never stepped on  So, it has never been fully used   How about that old stand-mixer That never made a cake And that large food processor  Bought for recipes we didn’t make   Then there's that pressure washer? And that carpet cleaner too Throw in that big old pot Since we rarely make a stew   Do we really need five sofas? So much time has slipped away Joe Namath pushing hearing aids Never dreamed I’d see this day   Joe represents MD Hearing He does their ads on TV I’ve always been a Namath fan His spirit just seems so free   We both went to Alabama  Me, I’m your average Joe But “Broadway Joe”, “Joe Willy” Every football fan will know   He was the epitome of “cool” Still is at the age of eighty  His charm and personality  And presence are still weighty   Now, he looks a little frail  And it’s hard for him to hear He retains that brilliant smile Joe still makes me want to cheer
