Kamala for President

Billy Joe Shaver says in a song
That I love to play
“I’m just an old lump of coal,
But I’ll be a diamond someday.”

Well, coal can’t become a diamond

Because their difference is profound

Cut and polish a rough diamond though

Brilliance and beauty will abound

Democrats have polished their diamond

For all the world to see

Kamala Harris had her coming out

At the Convention of the DNC

Not long ago, she was seen

As a drag on the ticket

In true Brer Rabbit fashion

She got them to throw her in that thicket

It’s a political Ugly Duckling story

She is now a lovely swan

Directed by Democratic Leadership

Biden passed her the baton

Central theme of the Convention

Carried out with no abate

“No policies or positions needed

As long as we have Trump to hate”

The vibes were good, the joy high

Her election is well on-track

The Harris campaign slogan is

“FORWARD - We are not going back”

Not back to where? one might ask

Her long-standing progressive way?

Or the Trump right-leaning policies

Surrogates say she supports today

 Campaign staffers state her positions

That contradict her prior statements

A creative twist on Biden’s strategy

Of hiding in his basement

No matter what you think of her

You have to admire her pluck

I wouldn’t bet against her

Given her great timing and good luck
