Vaguely Familiar Faces

In LA, many years ago

At a Bama football game

Saw someone I thought I knew

But couldn't recall his name

We introduced ourselves

We thought we knew each other

Turned out he'd been a classmate

Of my younger brother

We had a pleasant talk

Caught up about old friends

Talked about the old times

And places we'd since been

He asked if I remembered

His wife and said her name

I said the name's familiar

But I can’t put a picture in the frame

I said that if I saw her

Her face I’m sure I’d know

He slowly shook his head and said

“I really don’t think so”

It was a sad reminder

Time and gravity have had their way

None of us look like we did

Back there in the day

But don't let that be a reason

To let a possible reunion go

It's usually fun to reconnect

With someone you used to know
